Technical Councils

UNIVERSITY GOVERNMENT

  • University Council
    • Committees
  • Rector
  • University Officials
  • Technical Board

According to the Organic Law of the University of Colima and the Regulations of Schools, Technical Councils are the highest collegiate governing bodies within our institution. They are composed equally of professors and students (one titular representative and one substitute) for each of the groups that encompass the program or programs taught at the campus.

The director of the school will preside over the corresponding Technical Council, with a voice and a deciding vote in case of a tie. The secretary or the administrative secretary—or whoever performs those functions—will act as secretary, rapporteur, and notary, with the right to speak but without a vote.

Council members will serve a two-year term and must be elected during the August to January semester.

According to the Organic Law of the University of Colima and the Regulations of Schools and Faculties, Technical Councils have the following functions and powers:

  • Promote everything that contributes to the cultural, academic, technical-disciplinary, and administrative improvement of the school;
  • Ensure strict compliance with current university legislation;
  • Propose projects for innovations, modifications, and eliminations to study plans to therelevant university bodies for approval.

As well as any other functions and powers assigned in the Regulations of Schools and Faculties, the Organic Law, the University Council, and current university regulations.

Requirements:

Professors:

  • Be a titular professor at the corresponding school and be in active academic service.
  • Have a minimum of three years of seniority at the respective school.
  • Have not committed serious offenses against university discipline.
  • Have not verbally or physically assaulted the University or its authorities.
